The Horse & The Goat

There was a farmer who had a horse and a goat…..One day, the horse became ill and he called the veterinarian, who said: - Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I’ll come back on the 3rd day and if he’s not better, we’re going to have to put him down. Nearby, the goat listened closely to their conversation. The next day, they gave him the medicine and left. The goat approached the horse and said, " Be strong, my friend.Get up or else they’re going to put you to sleep!" On the second day, they gave him the medicine and left. The goat came back and said "Come on buddy, get up or else you’re going to die! Come on, I’ll help you get up.Let’s go! One, two, three…" On the third day, they came to give him the medicine and the vet said, "Unfortunately, we’re going to have to put him down  tomorrow . Otherwise, the virus might spread and infect the other horses.   After they ...

All Is Well

Unable to bear his poverty, a priest went to the temple and begged the deity there for a solution. That night the deity left a golden pot in the courtyard of the priest's house. The priest found the golden pot with some water in it. He threw the water out and went to the market where he sold the pot to a merchant. With the money he received, he repaid all his debts and returned home a rich man laden with gifts for his family. Soon after, his family fought over the vast wealth, everyone from his wife to his children to his parents and his siblings demanding their share. Unable to bear the mental agony, the priest went back to the temple and complained to the deity. "You have added to my problem not solved it with the golden pot". And deity said, "Golden pot? What golden pot? I gave you the elixir of contentment( A divine Drink for making all is well), enough for you and your family. It happened to be contained in a golden pot. Did you not drink it?" ...

FUNNY - Buttered Toast

Dear Butter & Toast,   "Murphy drops some buttered toast on the kitchen floor. It lands butter-side-up. He looks at what he has done in astonishment, for he knows it's a law of nature.   that buttered toast always falls butter-down. He rushes round to the presbytery to fetch the priest. He tells the priest that he thinks a miracle has happened round at his flat. He won't say what it is but wants Fr Flannagan to see it with his own eyes. He brings Fr Flannagan into the kitchen and asks him what he sees on the floor." "Well, says the priest, "it's pretty obvious what we have here. Someone dropped some buttered toast, and then for some reason flipped it over so that the butter was on top." "No, Father, I dropped it and it landed like that." "Well, Fr Flannagan says, "it's certainly a natural law of the universe that dropped toast never falls butter side up. But it's not for me to say it's a mir...

Simple vs. Real Friend

A simple friend, when visiting, acts like a guest. A real friend opens your refrigerator and helps himself and doesn't feel even the least bit weird shutting your  'beer/Pepsi drawer' with her foot! A simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend shoulder is soggy from your tears..  A simple friend doesn't know your parents' first names. A real friend has their phone numbers in his address book.. A simple friend brings a bottle of wine to your party. A real friend comes early to help you cook and stays late to help you clean. A simple friend hates it when you call after they've gone to bed. A real friend asks you why you took so long to call. A simple friend seeks to talk with you about your problems. A real friend seeks to help you with your problems. A simple friend wonders about your romantic history. A real friend could blackmail you with it! ;)     A simple friend thinks the friendship is over when you have an argument. A real friend calls you af...

Opportunities- A Story

A young man wished to marry the farmer's beautiful daughter. He went to the farmer to ask his permission.   The farmer looked at him and said, "Son, go stand out in that field. I'm going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any one of the three bulls, you can marry my daughter."   The young man stood in the field awaiting the first bull. The barn door opened and out came the biggest, meanest looking bull he had ever seen.   He decided that one of the next bulls had to be a better choice than this one, so he ran over to the side and let the bull pass through.   The barn door opened again. Unbelievable. . He had never seen anything so big and fierce in his life. It stood pawing the ground, it eyed him. Whatever the next bull was like, it had to be a better choice than this one he thought. He ran to the fence and let the bull pass through.   The door opened a third time. A smile came across his face. This was the weakest bull he had ...

The Bathtub Test

It doesn't hurt to take a hard look at yourself from time to time, and this should help get you started.  During a visit to the mental asylum,   a visitor asked the Director what the criterion was which defined  whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.   "Well," said the Director, "we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a   teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient and ask him or her to empty the bathtub."   "Oh, I understand," ! said th e visitor. "A normal person would use the bucket because it's bigger than the spoon or the teacup."   "No." said the Director, "A normal person would pull the plug. Do you   want a bed near the window?"

A good one (+12)

A good one  An old Brahmin in USA had a teenage son, and it was getting high time the boy gave some thought to choosing a profession. Like many young men his age, the boy didn't really know what he wanted to do, and he didn't seem too concerned about it. One day, while the boy was away at school, his father decided to try an experiment. He went into the boy's room and placed on his study table four objects:   1. A copy of the RAMAYANA,   2. A silver dollar,   3. A bottle of malt whiskey,   4. And a Playboy magazine. "I'll just hide behind the door," the old preacher said to himself, "and when he comes home from school, I'll see which object he picks up. If it's the Ramayana, he's going to be a pujari like me, and what a blessing that would be! If he picks up the coin, he's going to be a businessman, and that w...

Story of Lamborghini and Ferrari

Mr. Lamborghini was born in 1916 to a working class farmer family. He grew up as a highly skilled mechanic and started his own tractor manufacturing business. His business was very successful with the production rate of 400 tractors per month in 1960. Being a wealthy man he bought a Ferrari 250GT and joined the league of those limited number of people who owned Ferrari at that time. He continually had mechanical problems with his Ferrari and soon he became embarrassed. After so many visits to Ferrari workshop he decided to meet Mr. Enzo Ferrari to complain in person. He went to Ferrari office and had to wait for hours tomeet Enzo Ferrari. He told Mr. Enzo that their car is poor. Mr Ferrari said to Elio Lamborghini that he can end up with driving a tractor but won't be able to handle a Ferrari properly.  That was the moment Mr. Lamborghini decided that he would design his own sports V12 engine car and that's what he exactly did in coming da...

Smart Chauffeur

A successful scientist was on his way to a seminar where he was supposed to give a lecture on his new breakthrough in research. His chauffeur saw his tired look and felt sorry for him. "Sir, why don't you take the day off today", he said, "I've heard your lecture so many times by now I know it by heart. I can give the lecture and you can just sit back and relax." The scientist thought this was a great idea, since he was sick and tired of giving the exact same lecture over and over again. When they arrived at the seminar the scientist put on the chauffeur's hat and seated himself in the back of the lecture hall. His trusted chauffeur walked to the podium and gave an excellent lecture showing at least as much confidence as the scientist would. At the end of the lecture the chauffeur asked, just as his master always does, "Are there any questions?" One of the professors in the hall stood up and asked a long question about a very complicated and...

Doing Everything He Can

Good Morning!! There once was a happy monkey wandering the jungle, eating delicious fruit when hungry, and resting when tired. One day he came upon a house, where he saw a bowl of the most beautiful apples. He took one in each hand and ran back into the forest. He sniffed the apples and smelled nothing. He tried to eat them, but hurt his teeth. They were made of wood, but they were beautiful, and when the other monkeys saw them, he held onto them even tighter. He admired his new possessions proudly as he wandered the jungle. They glistened red in the sun, and seemed perfect to him. He became so attached to them, that he didn't even notice his hunger at first. A fruit tree reminded him, but he felt the apples in his hands. He couldn't bear to set them down to reach for the fruit. In fact, he couldn't relax, either, if he was to defend his apples. A proud, but less happy monkey continued to walk along the forest trails. The apples became heavier, and the poor little monkey t...

Pencil and Eraser

Pencil and Eraser   This is dedicated to parents and children... Pencil: I'm sorry Eraser: For what? You didn't do anything wrong. Pencil: I'm sorry because you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time. Eraser: That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. I found this conversation between the pencil and the eraser very inspirational.  Parents are like the eraser whereas their children are the pencil.  They're always there for their children, cleaning up their mistakes.  Sometimes along the way they get hurt, and become smaller (older, and eventually pa...

The Glass of Water

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see, and asked the students: “How much do you think this glass weighs?” ’50 ml!’….. ’100 ml!’ …..’125 ml’, guessed the students. “I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor, “but, my question is:What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"  And he stretch...

14 short stories worth reading, feeling and forwarding to all those dear to you..   1. The Tortoise, The Elephant and The Hippopotamus

One day the tortoise met the elephant, who trumpeted, “Out of my way, you weakling – I might step on you!”. The tortoise was not afraid and stayed where he was, so the elephant stepped on him, but could not crush him. “Do not boast Mr. Elephant, I am as strong as you are!” said the tortoise, but the elephant just laughed. So the tortoise asked him to come to his hill the next morning. The next day, before sunrise, the tortoise ran down the hill to the river where he met the hippopotamus, who was just on his way back to the water after his nocturnal feeding. “Mr Hippo! Shall we have a tug-of-war? I bet I’m as strong as you are!” said the tortoise. The   Hippo laughed at this ridiculous idea, but agreed. The tortoise produced a long rope and told the hippo to hold it in his mouth until the tortoise shouted “Hey!”. Then the tortoise ran back up the hill where he found the elephant, who was getting impatient. He gave the elephant the other end of the rope and said, “When I say ‘hey!’...

A Cup of Coffee on the wall

I sat with my friend in a well-known coffee shop in a neighboring town of Venice (Italy), the city of lights and water. As we enjoyed our coffee, a man entered and sat at an empty table beside us. He called the waiter and placed his order saying, ‘Two cups of coffee, one of them there on the wall.’  We heard this order with rather interest and observed that he was served with one cup of coffee but he paid for two. As soon as he left, the waiter pasted a piece of paper on the wall saying ‘A Cup of Coffee’.   While we were still there, two other men entered and ordered three cups of coffee, two on the table and one on the wall. They had the two cups of coffee but paid for three and left. This time also, the waiter did the same; he pasted a piece of paper on the wall saying, ‘A Cup of Coffee’.  It was something unique and perplexing for us. We finished our coffee, paid the bill and left. After a few days, we had a chance to go to this coffee shop again. Whi...

Scooter: A Short-story by Harsh Snehanshu

As soon as I graduated from college, I fought with my parents to allow me to go full-time with my start-up. They didn’t approve of my choosing an uncertain course over the secure path of campus placements and there was an unsaid tension between my parents and me. I turned taciturn during that phase and would answer in a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ over the phone to my parents’ anxious questions, evading most of them. Since they lived a thousand kilometers away, they were understandably concerned about my well-being. Most of their questions, were directed at my company and its ‘certain’ futility and I would hang up, frustrated. Fighting it out with abject poverty, I painted a rosy picture of my life to my parents saying, ‘I am making a decent half a lac rupees a month,’ so that I would be relieved from at least one end, while figuring out a revenue model that worked for my venture. It was the end of the second month of full-time entrepreneurship. It was a very difficult time for me. I had rented...

Dont be arrogant - Hilarious story!!

A municipality officer stopped at corps fields in Texas , and talked with an old farmer. He told the farmer, "I need to inspect your ranch for illegally grown drugs." The farmer said, "Okay , but don't go in that field over there.....", as he pointed out the location. The municipality officer verbally exploded   saying, " Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me !" Reaching into his rear pants pocket, he removed his badge and proudly displayed it to the farmer. "See this badge?! This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish. on any land !! No questions asked or answers given!! Have I made myself clear......do you understand ?!!" The farmer nodded politely, apologized, and went about his chores. A short time later, the old farmer heard loud screams, looked up, and saw the municipality officer running for his life, being chased by the farmer's BIG BULL. With every step the bull was gaining ground on th...

Men never learn :P

A woman ran a red traffic light and crashed into a man's car. Both of their cars are demolished but amazingly neither of them was hurt. After they crawled out of their cars, the woman said; “Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days.” The man replied, “I agree with you completely. This must be a sign from God!” The woman continued, “And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished, but my bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune.” Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opens it, drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man. The man asks, “Aren't you having any?” She replies, “Nah. I th...

Importance of Having Friends

Once a lonely hawk lived on a tree by the riverside. He was young and handsome but he had no friends. One day, he saw a beautiful she-hawk sitting on a tree and wanted to marry her but the she-hawk refused to marry him, as he had no friends. “Will you marry me if I make three friends?” – he asked. She said that she definitely would. The hawk then went looking for friends. While flying on the other bank of the river, he saw a huge tortoise. The hawk flew down to him and said, “Dear tortoise, will you be my friend and help me in my hour of need?” The tortoise agreed to become his friend and said, “Call me whenever you need me and I shall come to your side.” The hawk also promised him his help at any time and then flew in search of the second friend. Soon, he came upon an osprey. The hawk went to it and asked her if she would be his friend and help him in time of his need. The osprey very gladly accepted his friendship and offered her help whenever he needed it. The hawk was glad tha...
